It's been a week, so I don't recall all the fights and forgive me of any inaccuracies. Despite that, here's my review.
The crowd was extremely thin. I'm fairly confident the ticket prices had a lot to do with that. There were a number of changes in the line-up between when the program flyers were printed and the actualy bouts. Even the on-screen coverage had a few names mixed up, a fighter would be up on the screen and the other fighter's name and stats would be displayed.
Dispite the name mix-ups, the video coverage was GREAT. Any action missed in the ring was nicely replayed on the big screen. With a camera mounted on a massive boom and another floating about ringside, little action was missed by the cameras.
The opening match-up: TJ O'Brien vs. Nate Woods set the pace for the night. Very little stricking other than a few leg kicks thrown by O'Brien. Woods took down O'Brien with a slam. O'Brien held tight and each fighter had one another in a loose guillotine. Either the reg stood them back up or they worked their way back up to thier feet when O'Brien gained control with a standing guillotine. After O'Brien dropped down into a gaurd with the guillotine still secured, Woods tapped out at 52 seconds.
David Negret vs. Phil Dawes was a long, drawn out, slow paced matched, up until the third round where Negrete fired away with an intense striking assault for a win via TKO. Early in the first round, Chuck Grigsby showed clear dominance in his striking ability over Andy Stock. Andy Stock showed a big heart and great competitive spirit by continuing to press on despite the beating recieved early in round one. Stock attempted to take the fight to the ground but Grigsby's sprawl and quick hands did not allow that to occur. To work past his reach disavantage, Stock found that his overhand right allowed a few of his strikes to connect. The fight lasted all three rounds. Grigsby stood victorious by decision.
Doug Onstot quickly took down Waylon Wolf and forced a submission with a rear naked choke after a mere 47 seconds.
Jaxon Mayson's vicious ground and pound game did not come in to play. Allen Hernandez slipped past Mayson's stand-up strikes and took Mayson down. In an attempt to roll out, Mayson gave up his back. Hernanadez quickly capitalized and forced a submission with a rear naked choke.
At the last intermission, news was announced concerning Des Moines' hometown favorite, Jeremy Stevens. Stevens recently signed a 3 fight contract with the UFC.
After a fair exchange in strikes, Sean Westbrook caught Kevin Burns' knee in his groin. After a 5 minute delay, the first was restarted where Westbrook stood extremely passive. If I recall correctly, the fight ended with Burns victorious via TKO.
Unfortunately, I don't recall much of the final bout. I believe it ended with Alonzo winning via TKO during a ground and pound.
